A new organization is planning a nationwide function for March 2012 focusing on Obama's apparent ineligibility for the presidency

(Jul. 7, 2011) — A firestorm is brewing as the world is becoming aware that an event is being planned in which the people of America will join en masse to force Washington to take note that we will not be ignored about Barack Obama’s ineligibility to hold the office of president of the United States, the fraud that has been committed to hide that fact, or the stonewalling tactics that have been employed by Congress and the courts for nearly three years.

The Birther Summit’s Operations Team understands the general desire for immediacy in this effort, as that has been everyone’s sentiment since before the faux inauguration in January 2009. However, anyone familiar with the design and implementation of such a large-scale event knows the sheer volume of details that must be planned and implemented for a grand event like this to even hope for success, let alone accomplish its historic mission.

While no specific date has been formally set, we have begun focusing on the month of March, believing that such a date will allow sufficient time to insure a positive outcome.

In light of that, we want to expound our understanding as to the Birther Summit’s place in relation to the entire eligibility movement. We do NOT want the summit to be perceived as a movement in, and of, itself; nor do we believe the upcoming summit should replace any of the numerous actions people across the country are doing daily. Those actions are necessary, and should not stop, or be lessened, in anticipation of the Birther Summit. In fact, they should actually increase as the date for the summit looms ever closer.

The Birther Summit is a tool for us all to use—to remind our public officials that we will remain in their faces over this, and also to pique the curiosity of those who might not currently understand the constitutional crisis that still exists.

The Birther Summit is also a tool to show the unity of our movement—that we are focused on the legal resolution of the crimes that have been committed against our nation. That is the reason behind the merchandise that is being offered, for, with the growing public use of the merchandise, the message we have been trying to make heard can make its way into every facet of American life. While every bit of the proceeds derived from the merchandise will help with the unimaginable expense that will be incurred by the Birther Summit, we only receive a very small percentage of each item’s purchase price. But, every penny will help, as the costs associated with this event will be astronomical.

As the plan and structure of this three-day event become finalized, we will be rolling out increasingly greater marketing efforts throughout the country, and will force our way into the common, everyday language of Americans. We will be lauded, and we will be hated; but, WE WILL BE. We are already receiving messages from across the country from people who want to be a part of this historic event, and as our message is disseminated to even greater numbers of people, knowledge of the upcoming Birther Summit will blanket the land. The Birther Summit website is already largely exceeding the traffic we initially anticipated at this point in our infancy.

The Birther Summit is an event for Americans to force Washington to stop ignoring our demands for redress of grievances, it is a tool for growing numbers of our citizens to understand the serious nature of the crimes that have been committed against our country and our Constitution, it is point of unity for the entire movement, and it is a source of support for the the various actions that are presently being taken by groups and individuals.

Obama’s Enablers Put Forth Another Straw Man Argument: One’s Parents Do Not Have to Be Born in the U.S. to Be a “Natural Born Citizen”

Putative President Barack Obama’s enablers are out and about making their straw man arguments in order to win the presidential eligibility issue. “A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To ‘attack a straw man’ is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the ‘straw man’), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man.

In arguing that putative President Barack Obama is an Article II “natural born Citizen, his defenders maintain that the “birthers” are wrong in believing otherwise because there is no requirement that one’s parents must be born in the U.S. to be a "natural born Citizen." This is a straw man argument given that it suggests that this is the “birthers’” argument when in fact it is not. This is not the only straw man argument that we have seen Obama’s enablers advance. We have seen their effort to win the Obama eligibility issue by misrepresenting the constitutional argument (e.g., they argue that a “natural born citizen” is the same as a “citizen” and then they set out to show what historically a “citizen” is and publicly concentrate on the place of birth issue but suppress from the same public the constitutional argument on the meaning of an Article II “natural born Citizen”); they present for public display “birthers” who may defend the constitutional position poorly as best defenders of that position; they invent a fictitious persona with actions or beliefs which are then ridiculed and criticized (they have invented the “birther” who they attack as being a racists and/or attached to nothing but conspiracy theories or in the words of Obama himself: "We're not going to solve our problems if we get distracted by carnival barkers and sideshows." [Barack Obama, April 27, 2011, in reference to Donald Trump]); and they oversimplify our constitutional position and attack that position (e.g. they mock the “birthers” for saying that a “natural born Citizen” is a child born in the country to citizen parents and add that a simple facial reading of the Constitution’s text contains no such requirement). They also use the slippery slope fallacy, saying that there is no reason for Obama to release any medical or other evidence proving his Hawaiian birth because the “birthers” will never be satisfied with no matter how much documentary evidence of his alleged Hawaiian birth Obama may present to the public. None of this is even to mention the unfounded charges of racism and other and various ad hominem attacks against anyone who would dare question Obama’s Article II constitutional eligibility to be President.

Now let us see how Obama’s enablers’ statement that the “birthers” put forth the argument that the President’s parents must be born in the United States is nothing but a straw man argument. First, we do not maintain that the parents need to be American born. Rather, we maintain that they must be "citizens of the United States," which status they can acquire by being "natural born Citizens" or naturalized at birth or after birth. The parents must be “citizens of the United States,” under any one of three scenarios: (1) “natural born Citizens” under Article II by being born in the U.S. or its jurisdictional equivalent to U.S. citizen parents; (2) naturalized at birth, under the 14th Amendment or 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1401(a) by being born in the U.S. to one or two alien parents or other Congressional Acts by being born out of the U.S. to one or two U.S. citizen parents; or (3) naturalized after birth under some Congressional Act or treaty by being born out of the U.S. to two alien parents.

Second, these same individuals also confuse an Article II “natural born Citizen” with a "born citizen" under the 14th Amendment or 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1401(a) which as currently interpreted do not require U.S. citizen parents in order to be declared a “citizen of the United States” at birth. This latter citizen, lacking the natural quality of being born to two U.S. citizen parents, is actually naturalized at birth by way of Congressional naturalization power at first questionably exercised by Congress through the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and then unquestionably exercised by it through the 14th Amendment. Today, we commonly refer to this citizen as a “native-born citizen,” not to be confused with a “native” under natural law and the law of nations which has the same meaning as a “natural born citizen.” On the contrary, to be an Article II "natural born citizen," one must be born in the U.S. (or its jurisdictional equivalent) to a U.S. citizen father and mother. Emer de Vattel, The Law of Nations, Or, Principles of the Law of Nature, Sections 212-217 (London 1797) (1st ed. Neuchatel 1758); Minor v. Happersett, 88 U.S. (21 Wall.) 162, 167 (1875); U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898).  See also the many other legal and historical sources cited at this cite for support for this definition. The Founders and Framers wanted to make sure that no hereditary monarch could ever gain control of the new constitutional republic and to keep foreign influence out of the all-powerful and singular office of the Chief Executive and Commander of the military. These birth circumstances assure that the President and Commander of our military cannot be of royal parents (a U.S. citizen must renounce all titles of nobility) and has sole and undivided natural allegiance to the U.S. from the moment of birth by the child not inheriting any other foreign allegiance by jus soli (citizenship by right of the soil) or jus sanguinis (citizenship inherited by one’s parents). Only the President and Vice-President have to be an Article II "natural born Citizen." The great majority of Americans are “natural born Citizens.” For every other citizen in the U.S. who is not a “natural born Citizen,” the clause has no constitutional or other legal effect, for “citizens of the United States” all enjoy equality in rights, privileges, and immunities. Hence, the clause is in place only to protect the United States and its people by assuring that our representative constitutional republic will be lead by a President and Commander in Chief who from birth is attached to the best interests and only that of the United States.

Obama is not and cannot be an Article II “natural born Citizen.” He maintains that he was born in Kapi’olani Hospital in Hawaii in 1961. But he has yet to conclusively establish that fact with a valid long-form Certificate of Live Birth or with any medical evidence. Rather, on April 27, 2011, after refusing to do so for over 2 ½ years and spending or causing to be spent countless millions of dollars of public and private funds and resources and even the 6-month imprisonment of a decorated military officer, LTC Terry Lakin, he released on the internet a forged internet image of his alleged long-form Certificate of Live Birth. This computer image is a forgery, as it contains evidence of electronic manipulation. Even if the internet image is a true representation of the alleged underlying Certificate of Live Birth, that underlying paper birth certificate, which is supposed to be a document filled in with a typewriter in 1961, is a forgery, for it contains evidence of kerning (a technique of spacing letters next to each other for aesthetic purposes) which cannot possibly be done on a typewriter in 1961. Also, there exist significant questions regarding whether Obama is using a valid social security number and whether his selective service military registration was also forged.

In any event, assuming the released birth certificate image to be valid, it conclusively establishes that Obama’s legitimate father was Barack Obama Sr. So, even assuming that Obama was born in Hawaii, he can be a “born” “citizen of the United States” under the 14th Amendment or 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1401(a), but he cannot be a “natural born” “citizen of the United States” under Article II. Under the British Nationality Act of 1948, Obama was born in 1961 to Barack Obama Sr., a British citizen father who was born in 1934 or 1936 in the then-British colony of Kenya and by descent from his father he himself was born a British citizen. He was therefore born with conflicting and divided loyalties to the U.S. and Great Britain, which under the Kenya Independence Act of 1963, converted to citizenship and allegiance to Kenya at age 2 which lasted until at least age 23. Consequently, Obama, was naturalized at birth and, like a person who is naturalized after birth is not eligible to be President, was not born with sole and undivided allegiance to the U.S. Obama is thus not and cannot be an Article II “natural born Citizen.” Obama is therefore not eligible to be President and Commander in Chief of the Military.

According to the U. S. Public Health Service, births in the United States in 1961 were classified for vital statistics into white, Negro, American Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Aleut, Eskimo, Hawaiian and Part-Hawaiian (combined), and "other nonwhite."

The category "white" includes, in addition to persons reported as "white," those reported as Mexican or Puerto Rican.  With one exception, a reported mixture of Negro with any other race is included in the Negro group; other mixed parentage is classified according to the race of the nonwhite parent and mixtures of nonwhite races to the race of the father.  The exception refers to a mixture of Hawaiian and any other race, which is classified as Part-Hawaiian.

In most tables a less detailed classification of "white" and "nonwhite" is used.

Now we know the government is a stickler for codes so that big brother can keep track of all our statistics.  Well, according the the US CDC website there have been some revisions as of late to the types of codes for 'race' on vital records certificates.

Prior to 2009, the latest revision to the actual long form took place in 2004.  In 1961, a black person was listed as either 'black' or 'negro'.  In 2004, the one showing on the CDC site shows he could have been listed as either 'black' or 'African American' as ethnicity then came into play.  Now in 2009 (revised 1/09), codes for those of the Negro race are listed and one can now be listed as just 'African' as is shown on Obama's COLB.

On page 205 are the statistics for Live Births, non-White Hawaiian births:
    

•  12,198 -- non-white births

•  12,110 -- attended in a hospital by physician
•  50 -- attended out of a hospital by physician or midwife

•  38 -- unattended

 
So, that's around 76 unattended births in the year Obama was born.  Was Barack Obama one of those 76?    Information regarding these birth came from the word or statement of a relative.  It might account for the Obama/Nordyke birth certificate numbers anomaly.

The hearing's gone in Dr. Rodney West's right ear. He's losing muscle mass in his legs and has to use a wheelchair since falling and breaking his hip after attending ceremonies last Dec. 7 for the 65th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
At age 96, it's sometimes difficult for West to remember details of things that happened to him just a few hours earlier.
"My memory is not as good as it used to be," West said.
But when he's asked about what he did on Dec. 7, 1941, West sits up straight in his wheelchair and his voice drops into a lower register as the pictures in his mind rewind 66 years to the sight of Japanese Zeros strafing the Pacific Fleet, bombs falling from the sky and charred men screaming in West's usually sleepy dispensary on Ford Island.
"They had burns all over," said West, who was a lieutenant junior grade officer assigned to the dispensary with six other Navy doctors. "You'd pick them up and their skin would come off. It was not a nice thing to see."

West holds court at the visitors' center each Wednesday, signing autographs and shaking hands with people who want to meet one of the last few Pearl Harbor survivors. "He's living history," one visitor said.

Sixteen years ago, on the 50th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack that launched America into World War II, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association estimated it had 40,000 members still alive, said Mal Middlesworth, the group's national president.
Today, there are only about 5,000 survivors of the attack, including West.
So West transforms into something of a World War II rock star every Wednesday when he sits at a table at the USS Arizona Memorial Visitors Center and signs autographs and greets dozens of people who want to shake the hand of someone who not only survived the attack, but treated about 100 wounded sailors and soldiers in a dispensary normally accustomed to dealing with colds and scrapes.
"There were so many" wounded, West said. "We gave them morphine for the pain and treated them with what we had, which was not much."

West can't hear his fans' questions over the din of hundreds of visitors mingling around the USS Arizona Memorial Visitors Center's bookstore, where he signs copies of the eighth edition of his book, "Honolulu Prepares for Japan's Attack."
Many of his admirers are disappointed that they can't communicate very well with West among the throng of people.
But they're thrilled when he happily poses for photographs and signs World War II memorabilia of all kinds for anyone who approaches him.
"He's a hero," Gina LaRock of Madison, Wis., said after West autographed a photo of the Arizona Memorial that she just purchased. "He helped save our country."
Many of the dozens of people who surround West each Wednesday are unabashed in their reasons for wanting to meet one of the few remaining Pearl Harbor survivors.
"He's living history and he's not going to be around much longer," said Richard Schellenger of Eugene, Ore., who bought one of West's books for him to sign. "Once he's gone, he's gone."
"He's part of our history," said Rich Navarro of Brentwood, Calif. "I'm just so glad that I can bring my kids to see someone who's an actual Pearl Harbor survivor. There's not that many left."
West is working on more pages for an upcoming ninth edition of his book. His appearance at the Arizona visitors center each week helps make the book one of the more popular among all of the titles in the bookstore, said Tony Catekista, one of the store's sales managers.
"It definitely helps (sales) when he's here," Catekista said. "But for a lot of people, it's more than that. It can be very emotional for them when they meet him."
West sticks to the facts, with no wiggle room for emotion, when he remembers Dec. 7, 1941.
He had been in the Naval Reserve and was activated in September, while simultaneously running a private medical practice in an office he shared at the site of the present state Capitol.
On that lazy Sunday, West was in his Manoa home getting ready to head to the office when his father called at 8:15 a.m. to tell West to turn on the radio.
In his book, West wrote that the announcer said, "All military personnel must report to their duty stations, immediately! ... We are being attacked. ... The attackers have been identified as the Japanese!"
West piled into his green 1941 Oldsmobile, picked up two aviator friends and barreled down Beretania Street toward Pearl Harbor at 70 mph, stopping only for military checkpoints.
As they got closer, the men could see planes, fire, heavy smoke and anti-aircraft shells bursting in the sky.
They jumped out at Hospital Point on the Pearl Harbor Naval base and looked for a ferry to take them to Ford Island, where the PB2Y hangar had been bombed and was still in flames.
The men could only find an open skiff with an outboard motor and a sailor willing to risk enemy fire to get them across.
"There was all kinds of shooting and noise and we looked at that boat and said, 'We've got to go through in that?' " West said. "We said, 'If this kid's brave enough to take us there, let's get aboard.' "
The sailor took them past the crippled USS Nevada, which was still being strafed by Japanese fighters, the USS California, the overturned USS Oklahoma and the damaged USS Maryland.
Once on Ford Island, West ran to the two-story, Pearl Harbor Naval Air Station Dispensary, where a delayed action bomb apparently intended for the USS California had left a 7-foot-deep crater in the middle of the dispensary's courtyard.
Inside, West saw burned sailors and soldiers everywhere, including at least 10 who were on the floor. Most had suffered flash burns from exploding ordnance.
West and the other doctors worked until 5 p.m. treating the burn victims with only morphine and bandages. They didn't even have penicillin.
West slept in the dispensary for the next four nights, waiting for another wave of Japanese fighter planes that never came.
When it was over, there were no ribbons or medals for what he did. "It was our duty," West said plainly. "You don't make a big deal about it."
Today, almost 66 years later, West understands why people want to meet him.
"There's a special feeling, even for the kids, to shake the hand of someone who's been under fire," West said. "This was the biggest and the worst war we've ever had. To them, I guess I am a hero."

He is survived by children Jo-Anne W. Lewis, and Kenneth and Rodney Jr.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Church, Diamond Head. Private burial. No flowers. Donations suggested to Punahou School (designated to student scholarships) or Foundation of the Rotary Club of Honolulu.

Our records show that Dr. Rodney T. West was Chief of Staff at Kapiolani Hospital in 1953.  He was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1958 and practiced at The Straub Clinic and Hospital until his retirement in December 1977.

An Amazing Life Rodney T. West, MD, was born December 23, 1910, in Wailuku, Maui in the, then, Territory of Hawaii. He attended Honolulu Military Academy, graduated from Punahou School and then Northwestern University’s undergraduate and medical schools in Chicago, Illinois. In 1934, he returned to the Islands with his wife Mary Ann Carlisle of Vienna, Georgia, to complete internship and residency at Honolulu’s Queen’s Hospital. On November 1,1935, he joined Dr. R. W. Benz's general medical practice in one of the small houses on the property now occupied by the State Of Hawaii’s Capitol Building, During football seasons, he volunteered as team doctor for Punahou School, and by the summer of 1939 he had fathered his first two children, a daughter and a son.

In January of 1941, believing that war was inevitable and imminent, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserve. Because he was not called into active duty until September 5, 1941, he became seriously involved in what was at first called “disaster preparations,” preparations that were, in the following year and a half, to be become extensive and unparalleled in U.S. history. During that interim, Dr. West worked in cooperation with the Hawaii Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Honolulu County Medical Society, the City and County Emergency Unit and the Queen’s Hospital, to assist in setting up a program that would see O`ahu prepared.

On December 7th, 1941, during the second wave of strafing and bombing by Japanese planes, he crossed the channel in an open whaleboat to report to duty at the Ford Island Dispensary. There he attended to hundreds of burned victims, and remained at the dispensary until Thursday, at which time he was finallly able to return to his Manoa home.

Following his tour of duty at Pearl Harbor, Dr. West served on Johnston Island in the Pacific, at Oahu’s Kaneohe Naval Air Station, (now KMCS), at Pensacola, Florida’s NAS where he received flight surgeon training, and at Key West, Florida’s NAS as chief medical officer. There his third child, a son, was born. After VJ Day, he returned to the NAS in Honolulu to receive his full commander’s rating and honorable discharge from active duty. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until September of 1949.

After his return to the Islands, Dr. West spent doctors who had not had a vacation for the duration of the war, and served on the Big Island as plantation doctor at Ola`a Sugar Plantation (Kea`au). In June of 1949 he was asked to join the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of The Clinic (now Straub Clinic & Hospital), and returned to Honolulu practice. Over the years, he delivered more than 5000 babies, usually at Kapi`olani Maternity Hospital, personallly chronicling their vital statistics in bound ledgers. Nearing the end of his practice, Dr. West took on the role of medical director, Straub Clinic’s first, before retiring at 65 years of age in December of 1975.

Throughout his lifetime, Dr. West served the medical community in many other ways: as Kapi`olani Hospital’s Chief of Staff for a number of years, as president of the Hawaii Medical Association in 1963, as liaison for the annual Pan Pacific Surgical conferences in Honolulu and finally in the founding of The American College of Physician Executives, becoming its first president. Today this organization has over 15,000 members.

Dr. West was also active in community affairs. In the 50's He was an active Kiwanian. In 1968, he joined The Rotary Club of Honolulu, believing strongly in Rotary International goal to advance world health and planetary peace. In May 2001 he was honored as one of the club's “living treasures.” Over the years, Dr. West played a key role on many boards, including the Better Business Bureau, the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii, the Salvation Army, and the Unity Church of Hawaii.

January 26, 2009 According to new testimony from an Obama family friend President Obama was born in Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu,  who learned this from the doctor in charge of the hospital that delivered Obama.

When Barack Hussein Obama places his hand on the Bible today to take the oath of office as 44th president of the United States, Barbara Nelson of Kenmore will undoubtedly think back to the day he was born. It was Aug. 4, 1961, at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu.

“I may be the only person left who specifically remembers his birth. His parents are gone, his grandmother is gone, the obstetrician who delivered him is gone,” said Nelson, referring to Dr. Rodney T. West, who died in February at the age of 98. Here’s the story: Nelson was having dinner at the Outrigger Canoe Club on Waikiki Beach with Dr. West, the father of her college friend, Jo-Anne. Making conversation, Nelson turned to Dr. West and said: “‘So, tell me something interesting that happened this week,’” she recalls.
His response: “Well, today, Stanley had a baby. Now that’s something to write home about.”
The new mother was Stanley (later referred to by her middle name of Ann) Dunham, and the baby was Barack Hussein Obama.

“I penned the name on a napkin, and I did write home about it,” said Nelson, knowing that her father, Stanley A. Czurles, director of the Art Education Department at Buffalo State College, would be interested in the “Stanley” connection.

She also remembers Dr. West mentioning that the baby’s father was the first black student at the University of Hawaii and how taken he was by the baby’s name.

Is this story just “too good to be true?” Perhaps.
Initial objections offered were that Dr. West had retired from delivering babies before 1961. This is questionable based on followup investigation (see below). The Buffalo News article stated that West had delivered Obama, but this was not what Nelson told the interviewer.  The second objection was that West was not at the Kapi’olani Hospital, based on an obituary available on the Internet. However it turns out, according to new information discovered by an Obama  contributor, that  ”[West] served as Chief of Staff at … Kapi’olani Maternity Hospital, 1953, and Medical Director, Straub Clinic, 1967-77.” The quote is from a cached web page of the Mamiya Heritage Medical Center. The Mamiya web site is under redesign, but copy has been saved here. So it is very plausible that West was at the Kapi’olani Maternity Hospital (as it was called then) in an executive capacity in 1961.

In 2008 West’s family gave a donation over $5,000 in the doctor’s memory to the Foundations of Hawaii Pacific Health, including the Kapi’olani Health Foundation.

We also know from that memorial article that West was a member of the Outrigger  Canoe Club mentioned in the newspaper story. The story, given the best information I have, remains very plausible.
Maybe it’s not too good to be true after all.

Followup. I received this response to an email query:

Our records show that Dr. Rodney T. West was Chief of Staff at Kapiolani Hospital in 1953.  He was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1958 and practiced at The Straub Clinic and Hospital until his retirement in December 1977.

HE PRESIDENT: "As many of you have been briefed, we provided additional information today about the site of my birth. Now, this issue has been going on for two, two and a half years now. I think it started during the campaign. And I have to say that over the last two and a half years I have watched with bemusement, I've been puzzled at the degree to which this thing just kept on going. We've had every official in Hawaii, Democrat and Republican, every news outlet that has investigated this, confirm that, yes, in fact, I was born in Hawaii, August 4, 1961, in Kapiolani Hospital. 

We've posted the certification that is given by the state of Hawaii on the Internet for everybody to see. People have provided affidavits that they, in fact, have seen this birth certificate. And yet this thing just keeps on going." 

"But we’re not going to be able to do it if we are distracted.  We’re not going to be able to do it if we spend time vilifying each other.  We’re not going to be able to do it if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts.  We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.

We live in a serious time right now and we have the potential to deal with the issues that we confront in a way that will make our kids and our grandkids and our great grandkids proud.  And I have every confidence that America in the 21st century is going to be able to come out on top just like we always have.  But we’re going to have to get serious to do it. 

I know that there’s going to be a segment of people for which, no matter what we put out, this issue will not be put to rest.  But I’m speaking to the vast majority of the American people, as well as to the press.  We do not have time for this kind of silliness.  We’ve got better stuff to do.  I’ve got better stuff to do.  We’ve got big problems to solve.  And I’m confident we can solve them, but we’re going to have to focus on them -- not on this."

Besides Obama's actual birth documentation, the president has refused to release his Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, Illinois State Bar Association records, baptism records and his adoption records.

The interview with Slom can be heard below, with his comments about Obama's father coming near the end, after the 10-minute mark: Hawaii State Sen. Sam Slom further told the host of "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" on WABC 770 AM in New York City that so long as Obama refuses to be transparent about his past, questions about the president's birth remain "a legitimate issue." "My particular point of view – and why I haven't identified myself as a 'birther,' per se – is that [Obama] probably was born [in Hawaii] and that the real issue is not the birth certificate, but what's on the birth certificate," Slom told Klein. Asked what that could be, Slom said, "It could have to do with what his name is on the birth certificate, who is actually listed as his father, the citizenship of the father." He continued, "My belief is that there is a birth certificate, he was born here, but that there is information that for reasons known only to him he doesn't want released. If it were just the birth certificate, that would be one thing, but it's his school records, it's employment records. … 

Why would anybody, let alone the president of the United States, spend millions of dollars in legal fees to keep that hidden?" "As long as that goes on," he concluded, "I think it's a legitimate issue.

Slom told Klein that he knew the Obama family well. He said he lived in the same building as Obama near Honolulu's Kapiolani Medical Center – where many speculate Obama was born – when the future president was a teenager, worked with Obama's maternal grandmother and buried his father in the same cemetery where Obama's Grandfather Dunham was buried. Slom said one of his own sons was born in Kapiolani only a few years after Obama was born.

Hawaii Democratic Governor Abercrombie, close with the Obama's according to him, said once he was in office, he was going to end the ridiculous theory. However, this is what transpired recently:

Honolulu's Star-Advertiser: 'It actually exists in the archives, written down,' he said.

But it became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate.

Perhaps they would be happy if the state of Hawaii could produce pictures or video showing Obama as he came out of the womb with the placenta attached and Don Ho in the background playing Hawaiian music on his ukulele.
We have three wars going, a fragile economy, nuclear disaster in Japan and air traffic controllers taking siestas placing us all in danger. Come on people, we have much bigger fish to fry. Given the hand Barack Obama was dealt, he is doing an admirable job, all things considered.
The birthers, and now Donald Trump are calling to see Mr. Obama’s birth certificate. This is a tired side-show that is a distraction from our real problems. President Obama was thoroughly vetted, he has shown his birth certificate; end of story! The birthers antics just may help get Mr. Obama re-elected. The sane among us will grow evermore tired of the birther shenanigans and re-elect Mr. Obama in a landslide. I can hear the birthers screaming now!
It’s amazing how are standards for president change depending on who you’re talking about. During Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's (CA) first term when he was the darling of California and national politics, there was talk of how could the U.S. constitution be amended so that Mr. Schwarzenegger could run for president, since he was born in Austria and not in the U.S.! I wonder if they (birthers) would have considered an amendment to the constitution if his name had been, Arnulfo Sanchez? I don't think so!
Actually the right-wing of the GOP have actually considered amending the 14th amendment of the constitution so they can deport American-born children of undocumented immigrants; namely Latino immigrants. Doing so would be nothing more than a xenophobic, racist knee-jerk reaction to America getting a little more “brown” than they (GOP and birthers) can handle.
Mr. Obama, the son of an immigrant is sensitive to the plight of Latino immigrants. This may be part and parcel why the right-wing (and birthers) of the Republican party are coming down so hard on Mr. Obama. This fact, endears him (Obama) to the Latino electorate and they (GOP and birthers) know it.
Mr. Obama has always attempted to reach across the aisle and work with the other side. All too often, he just seems to get his hand slapped. President Obama has done everything possible to work with Republicans, short of using bleach! This writer can’t understand all the rancor when it comes to Mr. Obama. He and the democrats do what they do best in negotiations with the GOP - FOLD! The GOP draws the line in the sand and the Democrats don’t dare cross it; Give me a break. The Democrats and President Obama have become such accomodationists when it comes to the will of the Republicans. So who is really winning and what are the birthers and tea party griping about?
Michele Bachman, the chair of the Tea Party caucus in the house is definitely pushing the birther agenda. Instead of smoke-screening more pertinent and relevant issues, they should try and work closer with Mr. Obama. It doesn’t appear that is going to happen anytime soon. Now that the 2012 campaign is starting to take flight, there will be more demagoguery and fear-mongering than you can shake a stick at. Trust me, the Republicans are experts at this. They will play on white Americas fears of a Negro/Latino nation and scare the hell out of middle America and the suburbs. The birthers will be there throwing gasoline on the fire to create even more dissension.
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “We will stand together as brothers or perish together as fools.” His words ring just as true today as they did when he first spoke them. The world has grown smaller and more dangerous. We are not the dominant power we once were. We’re going to have to learn to play nice and share the globes resources with other nations. They are no longer there for the taking or for our convenience. America, wake up before it’s too late!

I see that one of the other individuals who commented on the author's piece has termed the debate over Obama's country of origin a "useless issue." If Obama is, in fact, not a U.S. citizen, it means that he defrauded the American people. If he is not a U.S. citizen, then, logically, he was never eligible to run for president in the first place. If he is proven NOT to be a U.S. citizen, a natural corollary would be that he is NOT our president (we would be without a president in such a case), and every piece of legislation he has signed, every act he has ever performed as president, would become null and void.

I will tell you what scares the author of this blog and other liberals: they are afraid, deep down in their souls (so deep that they themselves may not even be aware of it), that Obama IS a fraud. That's why they seek to silence the "birthers," and why they're spending so much energy ridiculing the birthers, who, after all, are only seeking the truth. Since when is the seeking of TRUTH such a bad thing?

Deep down, most liberals are AFRAID that Obama really IS a fraud. If they didn't, they would not be spending so much energy trying to discredit the birthers.

It is not surprising that many people would not be the slightest bit bothered even if it were proven that Obama had defrauded the country by falsifying his birth records. For many people, FRAUD is a standard mode of operation. You must remember that SO MANY of the legislative bills liberals have managed to get passed and social policies that they have managed to get implemented have involved fraudulent means. The committing of fraud is not an exception among many liberals; it is the rule. Just look at ACORN.

Americans are rightfully concerned about Obama and are seeking ANY legitimate course of action to remove him from office -- NOT because he's a Democrat, NOT because he's black, and NOT because they especially care whether or not he was born in this country. Frankly, as long as his policies were not egregiously hurting the country, the birthers wouldn't even be worried about where he was born. MANY OF THE BIRTHERS VOTED FOR OBAMA. I AM A BIRTHER. I DID NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA, BUT I KNOW OTHER BIRTHERS WHO DID VOTE FOR OBAMA.

Because Obama's policies are so damaging to our country, the birthers are focusing on the "birth certificate" issue because proving that he defrauded the American people regarding his country of origin WOULD BE ONE WAY TO GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE NOW INSTEAD OF TWO YEARS FROM NOW. They want him out of office NOT because he's a Democrat, and NOT because he's black, but because his fiscal policies are bringing our country to its financial knees.

I did not vote for Barack Obama, because I suspected during the election that he would lead us to where we find ourselves today. You should also know that I noticed a tear in my eye upon seeing our first black president inaugurated, even though I vehemently disagreed with his policies. The tear in my eye was a warm, emotional HAPPY one -- not one of sadness or despair. His BLACKNESS did not bother me in the least. It was not a PLUS; it was not a MINUS. It was a moot issue. I would have joyfully voted for a Condoleezza Rice, or an Alan Keyes, or maybe a Colin Powell.

Of course, in the minds of many people, Condoleezza Rice and Alan Keyes do not qualify as being fully "black." I will tell you that these people are every bit as "black" as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, or anyone else who some might consider to be "really black." Legitimate, bona fide black people come in a VARIETY of packages, appearances, and characters, as do people of ANY ethnic origin. Each and every person of every color is UNIQUE, and their individuality should be respected. Shame on those of you who try to establish certain criteria that people must meet in order to be considered "truly black" or truly ANYTHING with regard to ethnicity. You are doing so ONLY to further your own narrow, self-serving agendas, political and otherwise.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Investigations have concluded that President Obama was, in fact, born in Hawaii in 1961, as he has always said.

Just this week, on the news program “Good Morning America” on ABC, George Stephanopoulos produced a copy of the president’s Certification of Live Birth, causing a potential presidential aspirant, Michele Bachmann, the Republican congresswoman from Minnesota, to say that the issue appeared settled. In 2008, the Supreme Court declined to hear a case challenging that proof.

But the so-called birther controversy stubbornly refuses to go away.

The issue, which has simmered at the fringes of the nation’s political discourse for years, even got a recent burst of attention when it was adopted as a talking point by Donald Trump, a potential Republican presidential candidate.

The result is that what had been a wispy tale of purportedly buried documents and cover-ups designed to hide the president’s supposed birth in Kenya — a tale that has been dismissed by most mainstream members of both political parties — now appears to have legs as the political season lurches toward 2012.

A New York Times/CBS News Poll released Thursday found that 57 percent of adults surveyed nationwide said they thought Mr. Obama was born in the United States, versus 25 percent who said he was born elsewhere. 

But digging deeper into the numbers shows striking disparities along party lines and regions of the country. Among Republicans, for instance, 33 percent said they thought Mr. Obama was born in America, while 45 percent said his birth occurred in another country. The nationwide telephone poll, conducted April 15-20 with 1,224 adults and a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points, said that majorities in all regions of the nation think the president was born in the United States, but that those majorities were smaller in the South and Midwest than in the Northeast and Far West.

Around the country, the issue has proved to be a sure winner for the conservative base, with bills popping up in more than a dozen state legislatures to force future presidential candidates to prove their citizenship. Those legislatures, though, have been much more reluctant to turn this issue into concrete law.

Birther bills have foundered or fallen dormant in at least five states and are still being debated in more than a half-dozen others. In Arizona, where both legislative chambers passed one such bill, Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, vetoed it this week, calling it “a bridge too far.”

But now, Oklahoma, a deeply conservative state, could be the first to put its doubts into law, through a bill that would require all candidates, from town council hopeful on up, to prove that they meet the legal requirements for office. Those requirements vary by office, but presidential aspirants would need to, among things, file certified proof that they were born in the United States. The bill does not specify what documents would need to be filed. A vote was expected by next week.

Supporters of the measure, and others like it from Georgia to Montana, protest that they are not birthers, as doubters of Mr. Obama’s country of birth have been called, sometimes derisively. They say that they simply want to clarify the status of all candidates and that Mr. Obama’s case has only sharpened the issue and illuminated what they call a glaring hole in statutes governing eligibility to run for office.

“It’s not a birther bill, it’s a common-sense bill,” said a lead sponsor, State Senator Rick Brinkley, a Republican from suburbs of Tulsa. “If you’re going to file for office, you should be willing to substantiate that you meet the qualifications.”

In state capitols, the debates have been reframed in the dry language of good government — a simple effort to clear the air, supporters say, for confused voters. And because many of the bills failed this year, supporters are renewing their legislative battle plans for next year, in the heart of a presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, even beyond Mr. Trump, divergent views among Republican governors have heightened a new sense that the debate over the issue remains unresolved. After Ms. Brewer vetoed the Arizona bill, for example, Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, a Republican, said he would enthusiastically sign a similar bill, should it reach his desk.

Here in Oklahoma, where Mr. Obama won just over a third of the vote in 2008 — one of his worst state losses — Senate Bill 91 passed last month with overwhelming and even bipartisan support. People in both parties said they were confident that the House would do the same by the deadline next week (the bill would have to return to the Senate for a procedural vote). Lawmakers said they assumed that Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican, would sign it.

A spokesman said Ms. Fallin would not comment until the bill was on her desk and she had a chance to review it.

Legislators backing credentials bills in other states are closely watching what happens here.

“If one state passes, and the Obama administration basically ignores the requirement and does not qualify for the ballot in that state, that would send a very strong signal that we have a situation in the United States where someone who is not eligible is occupying the White House,” said Mark Hatfield, a Republican state representative in Georgia whose own ballot bill failed to get through. If Oklahoma does not go forward, and an override of Ms. Brewer’s veto in Arizona does not materialize, Mr. Hatfield said, “then other states, including Georgia, have a duty to step up.”

Opponents of the birther bills say they are unnecessary and are designed to score political points more than safeguard democracy, certainly in Mr. Obama’s case.

Still, Democrats in Oklahoma were divided. For example, the minority floor leader in the House, Chuck Hoskin, said he would probably vote yes. Asked in an interview whether he was concerned about embarrassing the leader of his own party, Mr. Hoskin said he thought Mr. Obama’s failure to win over Oklahomans in 2008 was the real embarrassment.

But down the hall, an assistant Democratic floor leader in the House, Al McAffrey, said the bill was the embarrassment. “But this is Oklahoma — we embarrass ourselves all the time,” he said.

Some lawmakers in other states said the fight to clarify the rules, whether sparked by birther talk or not, was overdue. But even some Republicans who have backed certification bills said they had no doubts about the president’s birthplace.

“Barack Obama is a natural citizen, born in Hawaii,” said Mike Kelley, a Republican representative in the Missouri House and a co-sponsor of a candidate certification bill that he said looked doomed for 2011. “I know there are people out there who don’t believe he is — this is about trying to calm those people down.”

Trump's Strength is Wisdom

A top adviser for President Obama dismisses him as a "sideshow." Former Bush adviser Karl Rove calls him a "joke candidate."

But that hasn't stopped Donald Trump, who has captured national attention with his outspoken skepticism of Obama's citizenship, from surging in early presidential polls. He leads all potential GOP presidential candidates by nine points in a Public Policy Polling survey released Friday. He trailed only Mitt Romney in a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released last week.

The real estate mogul and star of NBC's "The Apprentice" says he's encouraged by the polls, but won't make an announcement about his plans for a presidential bid until June. Yet he'll be in Florida this weekend to speak at a Tea Party Tax Day rally in his first political trip since he began making waves with talks of a possible presidential bid.

Despite Trump's early strong showing, many still aren't convinced of his electability and analysts say he will have to go beyond the so-called "birther" cause and define himself for Republican primary voters on social, fiscal and foreign policy issues.

Cary Covington, a political science professor at the University of Iowa, attributes Trump's high poll numbers more to a weak Republican field than to Trump's strengths as a potential candidate.

"The Republican Party right now hasn't found that resonant individual who speaks to the various bases the way a Bush or Reagan did and until they do…why not trust Trump?" he said.

While Trump's business success will appeal to fiscal conservatives, social conservatives will struggle to overlook his three marriages, he said.

"He's going to have a hard time making it in the social conservative ranks," he said. "Not sure serial monogamy is going to go over well with the social right."

Ultimately, he said, a Trump campaign likely won't succeed in the early nominating states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

"My intuition says the closer Republicans look at him, the less attractive he becomes," he said.

But GOP strategist Roger Stone, who worked as a lobbyist for Trump for 20 years and has launched a website in support of a Trump candidacy, says his former boss is the only one with the message and star power to defeat Obama.

"The question is why did his poll numbers change so rapidly," he said, noting that two months ago, he was bringing up the rear with single-digits."He's always been wealthy and outspoken. It's what he's been talking about. America getting ripped off by OPEC. America getting ripped off by China. America wasting billions of dollars. And he has the brand."

Stone says he sees a clear path to the nomination for Trump.

"You don't need 51 percent to win this race. You just need a plurality," he said. "There are a plurality of voters in Iowa and New Hampshire who like his message."

He also said Trump's celebrity will enable him to challenge Obama, who he called an "extraordinary, spellbinding speaker."

"If you're Tim Pawlenty, you've got to get people to know who you are and you do it on $10 million," he said. "It's so hard…Trump comes to the table well-known and he has a forum."

Trump has been on a media blitz in recent weeks, drawing attention by echoing the doubts of a fringe movement that doesn't believe Obama  was born in the United States, despite the existence of official documents.

White House senior adviser David Plouffe said this week that he hopes Trump keeps surging in the polls because "there's zero chance that Donald Trump would ever be hired by the American people to do this job."

"There may be a small part of the country that believes these things, but mainstream Americans think it's a sideshow," he told ABC's "This Week."

Rove, a Fox News contributor, said Friday that Trump was an "interesting candidate who had a business background and could have contributed to the dialogue."

"But his full embrace of the birther issue means that he's off there in the nutty right and is now an inconsequential candidate," he told Fox News' Greta Van Susteren. "I'm shocked. The guy's smarter than this. And the idea that President Obama was not born in Hawaii, making that the centerpiece of his campaign, means that he's just a joke candidate."

Rove added that if Trump decides to run, "The American people aren't going to be hiring him, and certainly, the Republicans are not going to be hiring him in the Republican primary."

Trump told the Wall Street Journal this week that he will "probably" run as an independent candidate if he doesn't win the GOP nod.

Trump said he thinks he can win as an independent.

"I'm not doing it for any other reason," he told the newspaper. "I like winning."
